A $5,000-peso loan: compare the total, not just the installment
A guide for placing two $5,000 MXN offers under the same amount and term.
Your individual disclosure sheet and contract take priority over every example.
Educational example: amount requested is not cash received
Assumptions
- Amount requested: $5,000
- Fee deducted before deposit: $250
- Six payments of $1,000
- No late or undisclosed charges
Result
You would receive $4,750 and repay $6,000. The difference from cash received would be $1,250, or 26.3% during the example term. That percentage is not CAT. It shows why cash received must be compared with total repayment.
Checklist before applying
- Write down how much actually reaches your account.
- Add every payment, fee, and VAT charge.
- Simulate one late date before deciding.
- Reject any offer that asks for an advance payment.
Compare offers on the same basis
Request the same amount, term, and payment frequency. A weekly offer and a monthly offer cannot be compared only by installment size.
Separate every charge
Distinguish interest, opening fee, VAT, insurance, and any deduction applied before the deposit. A financed fee may also accrue interest.
Test a difficult date
Place each payment on your real calendar. If it overlaps with rent, school fees, or uncertain income, calculate the late-payment consequence before accepting.
Apps with published amounts
Each profile states the amount its public source shows today. A published range does not guarantee the amount or the conditions of your offer.
Compare using your own numbers
Do not rely on an advertised installment. Enter the rate, term, fee, VAT, and frequency from the offer you received.
Open calculatorCommon questions
How much will I repay on $5,000?
There is no universal figure. It depends on rate, term, frequency, fee, VAT, and amortization. Your disclosure sheet should show the cost of your offer.
Is the smallest installment always better?
No. It may hide more installments or a longer term. Compare the total and full schedule.
Should I pay to release the loan?
An advance payment requested to release or secure a deposit is a high-risk sign. Stop and verify through an independent channel.
